Sigil is an anthology comprising of seven distinct stories, each delving into the depths of the human soul and waiting to be discovered. At its core, the book follows the transformative journey of a protagonist seeking enlightenment. However, above all, it is a compelling account of what it means to be human in the contemporary era.
Book Concept
Sigil is a seven-story anthology exploring the human experience, blending traditional storytelling with augmented reality. At its core, it follows a protagonist’s journey toward enlightenment, but each story stands on its own, offering different perspectives on modern existence.
Through Adobe Aero, readers can scan pages to reveal hidden messages, unlock sigils, and access exclusive content. While the book can be read as a standalone experience, AR expands its world, offering a deeper layer of discovery for those who engage with it.
Process
The book was fully designed in InDesign, ensuring a polished and structured layout. All visual elements, including fully rendered chapter dividers, were created using Illustrator, Photoshop, and Cinema 4D. Illustrator was used for intricate vector-based sigils and typography, while Photoshop enhanced textures and compositing. Cinema 4D brought depth and atmosphere to the chapter dividers through 3D-rendered visuals. The AR integration was developed using Adobe Aero, seamlessly merging print and digital storytelling.
I used X-Particles to create the spiral simulation. The glyphs were done by using a pattern with luminescence applied to the alpha channel, and the lake waves were generated using spheric fields.
The Water Realm
The Mind Realm
This gold simulation was created from an animated pattern used as a texture and fields to simulate the water waves.
For this environment, I incorporated the fog tag within the physical sky object and used expressions to create a looping animation of the pyramids.
The Earthly Realm
For this environment I kept using the same field for the water ripple effect and added 2 cloners with random efectors to get the rose petals and columns in place. I also used the same material used before in the water environment to add the letters on the columns.
